In alignment with this year’s theme, we will present three short films — spotlighting different farming initiatives. These films show different contexts, but share a commitment to sustainable agriculture and community building.
Powering Community: Wasatch Community Garden x Torus

Wasatch Community Gardens' City Farm is an urban growing operation that runs completely off-grid. In 2025, they partnered with Torus, a Utah-based energy storage company, to install a new solar and battery system that powers the farm with reliable, renewable energy. The film documents Wasatch Community Gardens' efforts to grow over 46,000 seedlings in the lead-up to their Annual Plant Sale, showcasing what's possible in off-grid, sustainable agriculture.
Rooted in Community
This Utah-based CSA exemplifies local, organic agriculture tied to community wellbeing — showing how a regional farm can support access to healthy food, strengthen local food systems, and contribute to community resilience.
Land and Heart
Through the story of a young farmer (highlighted in the film), this piece illustrates the challenges and hope of small-scale, sustainable agriculture: committed to soil health, food access, and breaking down barriers in a male-dominated industry.
We believe these films together offer a powerful, diverse portrait of how agriculture can be a tool for deeper community connection, sustainability, equity, and resilience.
Thriving Communities
For 2025, Thriving Communities has launched a film-series titled Rising, Rooted, and Resilient: Revitalizing Community Through Regenerative Farming. The goal of this series is to “inspire and inform about the potential of regenerative agriculture, healthy food, and cultural revitalization to heal and nurture communities.”.
Thriving Communities is a nonprofit “capacity-building” organization that uses film and storytelling to highlight positive, community-driven solutions to today’s social and environmental challenges. Since 2012 they’ve produced over 60 films — and every project is donated back to the organizations featured.
Their mission centers on the idea that real community change comes from within — from neighbors, farmers, local activists and everyday people coming together to build resilience, and restore connection to land.
